The weather was frightful, but the lights were delightful in Macungie!

Macungie Holiday Lights Turned On in Macungie Tuesday Night!

Although the rain was coming down hard, a handful of hardy souls came out to help turn on the Holiday lights in Macungie's Flower Park and along Main Street.

As the group gathered inside the Train Station gazebo, Mayor Rick Hoffman  thanked all the volunteers who help make Macungie a special place to live.

Christmas music was provided by the Brass Ensemble of the Church of The Good Shepherd in Alburtis. The official lighting of the holiday decorations was handled by honoree Ferne Druckenmiller, Leader of Girl Scout Troop 413, who has been an active community volunteer for most of her life.

Delicious and welcomed hot chocolate and cookies were coordinated & served by Macungie Pool Manager and Town Beautification Committee Member Alice Welsh.

Other attendees included: Macungie Borough Council Member Chris Becker, Historical Society President Dale Eck, his wife Kathy and their grandson Matthew (who really enjoyed watching everyone trying to sing louder than the sound of the rain falling), Pastor Martha Boyer and her son Andrew from Solomon's United Church of Christ in Macungie, the Mayor's wife Sue, and several Macungie Borough neighbors.

Macungie Dept. of Public Works/Water Operator Douglas McNair was on hand to make sure everything worked.

It was a wet but fun night for those who braved the elements and helped start the Holiday Season in Macungie.

Everyone is reminded to come to Macungie on Saturday, Dec. 10 from 9 am - 3 pm for MACUNGIE HOLIDAY with special events held throughout the entire Borough.  For information, see the Community Events listings on Patch or call the Macungie Institute 610-966-7830.
