Obituary: Maxine Bowers, 89, of Allentown

Maxine Bowers, 89, of Allentown, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013.

Maxine E. Bowers, 89, of Allentown, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 at the Phoebe Home, Allentown. She was the wife of the late Ray L. Bowers.

Born in Spalding, Saskatchewan, Canada, she was a daughter of the late Magnus Olaf Petterson and Mary C. (Burge) Petterson-Wylie.

Before retiring in 1986, she worked as a machine operator at ATT for more than 26 years. She was a member of St. John’s U.C.C., Emmaus.

When she wasn’t caring for her family by providing holiday meals and delicious baked goods, she enjoyed occasional trips to the casinos and playing bingo. After retiring, she and Ray enjoyed dining out at Superior Restaurant for breakfast.

Survivors: Son, Vance S. and his wife Mary L. of Allentown; daughter-in-law, Monique of Allentown; five grandchildren, Matthew Bowers, Serge
Bowers, Nicole Rayburn, Christopher Bowers and Shelly Hayes; 13 great-grandchildren, and a nephew, Merlin Somerville in Canada. She was predeceased by a son Gary R. Bowers, a brother and a sister.

Services: Graveside, 1:00 p.m. Jan. 19 at Northwood Cemetery, Emmaus. Arrangements by Trexler Funeral Home Inc., Allentown.
