Obituary: Paul J. Siegfried Jr., 79, Former Alburtis Fire Chief

Paul J. Siegfried Jr., 79, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013 in his home.

Paul J. Siegfried, Jr., 79 of Alburtis passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2013 in his home. He was the husband of Barbara Ann M. (Epting) Siegfried. They celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on April 18, 2012.

Born in Alburtis, he was a son of the late Paul J. Sr. and Edna M. (Lohrman) Siegfried. With his father he owned and operated Siegfried’s Garage. He also worked as an estimator for Bally Case and Cooler for 20 years. He retired from  Lutron Electronics in 1998, but returned and has worked part time until recently.

He was a member of Zion Lehigh Lutheran Church in Alburtis where he served as a councilman and choir member.

He was a member of the Alburtis Fire Company for more than 55 years and was fire chief from 1977 to 1985. He was a member of Lehigh Lodge #326 F&AM in Macungie, Lehigh Consistory-Valley of Allentown and the Rajah Shrine
in Blandon. He was secretary of Shayk’s Court.

He also served as the Alburtis Emergency Management Director up to the time of his death.

Siegfried was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 217 in Topton, Macungie VFW Post 9264 and the Pikeville Rod and Gun Club.

Survivors: wife; nieces, Anne Schauer of Allentown, Dr. Julie and her husband Dr. Ronald Fairman of Philadelphia; great-nephews Alexander and Connor; cousins Ron Eisenhard and his wife Heidi of Hillsgrove, Sullivan County, and  godsons Bill Eisenhard of Bradenton, FL and David Eisenhard of Hillsgrove.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday, January 28, at the church. Burial with military honors will follow in Lehigh Zion Cemetery. A Masonic Service will be held prior to the funeral service. Calling hours 9:30 a.m. until time of services. Schmoyer Funeral Home, Breinigsville is in charge of arrangements.
