Citations Spill from Macungie Bar Fight

One seeks hospital treatment after altercation, police say.

Chivalry may be alive and well in Macungie, but that realization came with a few lessons learned -- and citations issued -- on Sept. 28 as well.

Michael P. McFarland, 45, of Macungie and an unidentified woman argued in the bar area of the Veterans of Foreign Wars home at 287 Lehigh St. about 10:30 p.m., borough police said. Daniel M. Ring, 47, of East Texas interceded on the woman's behalf, and a physical altercation broke out between the two men.  Others joined in.

McFarland's hand was severely bitten during the altercation, police said, causing cuts and swelling. He received treatment at a hospital for his injuries.
