Car Flipped While Driver Slept, Police Say

Emmaus man's SUV rolls over on Lower Mac roadway after he falls asleep and vehicle takes its own course, troopers report.

An Emmaus man recently took a wild ride on a Lower Macungie Township back road after he fell asleep and woke up upside down with his vehicle on its roof, according to police.

Michael A. Jones, 25, was traveling east on Mountain Road at 6:34 a.m. Jan. 7, according to state police at Fogelsville. Jones fell asleep and his 2003 Subaru Forester went off the roadway and along an embankment.

The sport-utility vehicle traveled about 45 feet sideways and then struck a tree with the driver's side front end, police said. The SUV rolled onto its roof and came to rest in the eastbound lane of the roadway.
