Driver Hurt When She Hits Tree Downed by Storm
Fierce weather quickly blew into Upper Milford and region Sept. 8, bringing wind, torrential rain and damage.
An 80-year-old driver was slightly hurt on Sept. 8 when she drove her car into a downed tree in nearby Upper Milford Township, according to police.
The 3:37 p.m. accident occurred around the time of a torrential storm that brought strong wind, heavy rain and some resulting damage. That damage throughout the region included downed wires, limbs and trees.
It was one of those trees that Blanche E. Roth of Emmaus drove into, according to state police at Fogelsville. Roth was driving on E. Macungie Road near Brookside Road when she encountered the tree that was blocking the roadway and could not stop, police said.

She was taken to a nearby hospital by Macungie Ambulance Corps, police said.
