Driver Loses Control Coming Down Hill in Snow, Strikes Stuck Car

Police cite driver after morning crash in Upper Milford near Macungie line.

A 2012 Chevrolet Cruz that was stuck going up an Upper Milford hill during Tuesday morning's snowfall was struck by a car coming down the hill, police said.

The Cruz driver, David G. Rhyne, 41, of the Berks County community of Bechtelsville, suffered a minor injury, state police at Fogelsville said.

The other driver, Chris J. Rubert, 35, was not hurt. Rubert, of Boyertown, was driving a 2009 Subaru Impreza. He was cited for violating the traffic law "driving at safe speed," the state police fax said.

The crash occurred at 8:32am. at 5970 Sweetwood Drive, just south of Macungie borough. Rhyne's car was going uphill and was southbound. Rubert was going down the hill and was northbound. He lost control and hit the Cruz's front driver side bumper with the Subaru's rear driver side quarter panel, the fax said.

Rhyne was taken by Macungie EMS to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. Both cars were towed by Mechanics Plus Towing.
