Driver Not Hurt After Car Goes Airborne, Lands on Its Roof

Emmaus man cited after Saturday morning crash on Mountain Road just south of Macungie, state police say.

An Emmaus man escaped injury Saturday morning when the Acura he was driving went airborne over a driveway just south of Macungie, flipped while in the air and landed on its roof in a ditch.

State police said Elijah D. Harris, 21, was wearing his seat belt while driving his 2003 Acura TL eastbound on Mountain Road at Lorene Drive shortly before 7am. The crash site is in Lower Macungie.

He lost control of the Acura while trying to handle a "slight" left curve. He first went into a ditch, then impacted a dirt driveway off Mountain Road. That's when the car went airborne over the driveway, a state police fax said.

Harris wasn't hurt, although Macungie fire and EMS crews responded. He was cited for not driving at a safe speed and not showing required financial responsibility, the fax said.
