Update: Heat Wave to Blame for Death of Lower Macungie Man

Coroner: James Linder of Lower Macungie Township is the Lehigh Valley's first heat-related casualty.

The area's dangerously high temperatures over the past few days are to blame for the death of James Linder, 71, of 7349 Hillcrest Drive in Lower Macungie Township, according to Lehigh County First Deputy Coroner Paul Hoffman.

A Morning Call report stated there though there was an air conditioner in the home, it was not turned on. Nor were any windows open.

The coroner ruled Linder's cause of death to be hyperthermia.

Hoffman ruled Monday evening that the manner of Linder's death has been ruled an accident.
