Fire Company:  Ryan is with the Macungie Fire Department for one year and serves as a junior firefighter.

Training:  “I am currently in training to become a regular firefighter when I turn 18.  Right now I am learning some of the techniques of firefighting.”

Describe your job with the fire company.  “I go on the calls with the department, but cannot go into the buildings yet. I help the guys outside with the hoses and wherever else I am needed. I’m pretty restricted with what I am able to do, but I am learning a lot and will be able to fight fires as soon as I turn 18.”

How do your loved ones feel about you putting your life in danger?  “They like what I am doing and are proud of me for doing it. No one else in my family is involved in firefighting.”

Tell us a story you'll never forget about your firefighting experience.  “I don’t have any stories to tell yet.”

What would you tell people interested in joining your fire company?  “I would tell them to go ahead and try it. It’s a good thing to do for the community and I like it.”
