Lower Mac Accident Badly Hurts Pair
Car hits mailboxes then crashes into tree, police say.
Two Alburtis men were badly hurt July 26 in a single-car accident when their car hit a tree along a Lower Macungie Township roadway, according to police.
Passenger Tyler Spangenberg, 18, had to be extricated by firefighters from the vehicle after the 10:28 p.m. crash, said. Both he and the driver, Ryan J. Spangenberg, 20, received major injuries and were transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.
Ryan Spangenberg was headed west when he went off the roadway and struck a mailbox at 6961 Spring Creek Road, police said. His Mercury Tracer traveled through grass and hit a tree, spinning the car back onto the roadway where it blocked the westbound lane.
