Lower Macungie Inmate Found Dead

The Lehigh County Coroner's Office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death of Gary Haberle, 56, of Lower Macungie.

The Lehigh County Coroner's Office said Gary Haberle, 56 of Lower Macungie was pronounced dead Thursday morning at St. Luke's University Hospital in Fountain Hill.

A Morning Call report said Haberle was an inmate at the work-release Lehigh County Community Corrections Center in Salisbury Township. The report said Haberle was found unresponsive in his bed in the morning.

He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:39 a.m. A release from the coroner's office said an autopsy would be performed Friday to determine the cause of death.

According to a report on lehighvalleylive.com, Haberle was in the facility on probation and parole violations stemming from a driving under the influence case.
