Lower Macungie Crash Victim Died of Natural Causes, Coroner Says

Heart episode led to the crash Saturday evening in Alburtis, autopsy shows.

The Lower Macungie Township man who was killed when his car crashed off Franklin Street Saturday evening died from natural causes as a result of a cardiac episode, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's Office.

An autopsy was performed Monday, according to Coroner Scott Grim.

Timothy Kerson, 48, of 2423 Burgundy Drive was driving down Franklin Street about 6 p.m. when the accident occurred, according to witnesses. He appeared to be slumped over the wheel as his sport utility vehicle crashed through a split-rail fence at 691 Franklin, through backyards and into the Swabia Creek.

Kerson was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner's office.
