Macungie Couple Face Drug, Assault Charges

Man, woman accuse each other in alleged fight; police discover about a pound of suspected marijuana in a car.

An early-morning call for a domestic disturbance in Macungie led to drug- and assault-related charges against a borough couple who blamed each other for their alleged fight, the Macungie police chief reported.

Chief Edward A. Harry Jr. identified the couple after Thursday morning's arrest as Christopher Tyler Lee, 22, and Shelby Nichole Keeney, 21, both of 446 Race St. in the borough.

Harry provided the following details:

Around 2:20am Thursday, borough police conducted an investigation into a domestic assault at the Race Street address.

Sometime after that, police approached a vehicle driven by Lee at Race and Willow streets. Police searched the vehicle and found about 1 to 1.5 pounds of suspected marijuana.

Police also searched the Race Street address and found various items of drug paraphernalia.

Keeney accused Lee of physically attacking her and threatening her with a knife. Lee accused Keeney of assaulting him, resulting in numerous bite and scratch marks.

Lee was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Keeney was charged with simple assault, possession of drug paraphernalia, and misbranding a controlled substance.

They were arraigned later Thursday morning by District Judge Donna Butler of Emmaus, according to online court records. Lee was committed to Lehigh County Prison in lieu of $20,000 bail. Keeney was later released after posting $10,000 bail, the records say.
