Non-injury Accidents Reported on I-78, R.222 Bypass

Tire debris is culprit on I-78; car rear-ends another car on bypass' Krocks Road turn lane.

State police at Fogelsville report two non-jury accidents in Lower Macungie this week -- one on Interstate 78 and the other on the Route 222 bypass.

In the first one, a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta carrying a child struck tire debris in the right lane of eastbound I-78 at mile marker 54.1 Wednesday night and had to be towed.

The driver was Jenna Schray, 28, of Allentown. The child, whose age was not specified, was Noah Schray. The driver was wearing a seat belt and the child was in a child safety seat. The incident occurred at 10:37pm.

In the second incident, a 2003 Toyota Corolla rear-ended a 2011 Buick Enclave at 5:40pm Tuesday in the left-turn lane of the Route 222 bypass at Krocks Road.

The Toyota, driven by Ryan Himmelreich, 36, of Allentown, was southbound on the bypass when it entered the left-turn lane for Krocks Road and hit the rear of the Buick, driven by Caryn Dashukewich, 44, of Orefield.

The Buick was stopped at the red traffic signal with its left-turn signal activated.

Himmelreich was cited for "driving at safe speed." Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
