Passing Car Clips Route 222 Driver, Police Say

Motorist unsuccessfully tries to pass Breinigsville driver and doesn't stop after collision on bypass in Lower Macungie, troopers report.

A passing motorist on the Route 222 Bypass in Lower Macungie Township got caught short recently but left another driver holding the bag -- or dented car parts, according to police.

Jack Mack, 82, of Breinigsville was traveling northbound in the right lane of Route 222 between Krocks and Kressler roads at 9:45 a.m. Jan. 31, according to state police at Fogelsville.  Another vehicle passed him on the left, but cut in front of him when it was realized there was another vehicle ahead in the left lane.

The other driver quickly cut in front of Mack's Kia Sadona, but struck his left corner with his right rear portion of the vehicle, police said.

Mack pulled to the right shoulder, but the other vehicle continued on, police said.

Both vehicles received minor damage, police said, and no one was hurt.

The other driver is sought in the hit-and-run accident and stands to be cited for leaving the accident and making an improper lane change, police said.

No vehicle description was given; however, if anyone has information about the accident, contact police at 610-395-1438.
