Plumber Paid $4,500 Never Did Work, Police Say

A Macungie woman was defrauded out of a $4,500 advance she paid to a Delaware County contractor she hired to do plumbing work in her home, according to Macungie Police.

A 65-year-old Macungie woman recently was bilked out of $4,500 by a Delaware County contractor she hired to do work in her home, according to Macungie Police.

Jack Pakiela, owner of Jack’s Heating and Plumbing Service in Glenolden, was hired to do plumbing work in the woman’s home, but never did the work and never returned the money, police say.

Pakiela, 34, was arrested in a hotel in Bensalem Township, Bucks County, and returned to Lehigh County. He has been charged with felony counts of home improvement fraud and theft by deception and is in Lehigh County prison pending arraignment.
