Police: Man Flees Walmart With TV, Dumps it in Parking Lot

Man escapes after botched get-away, troopers say.

This time, the action drama wasn't on T.V. but all around it.

Instead of one of those re-runs played in the wee hours of the morning, this 4:42 a.m. drama on Dec. 8 was for real, according to police.

A male shopper placed a 32-inch television set in a cart at Walmart in Lower Macungie Township, but left the 1091 Mill Creek Road store without paying, according to state police at Fogelsville. A store security officer chased the man into the parking lot.

There, all did not go smoothly. The shoplifter was unable to open the door to the get-away car, police said.

So, he fled, but apparently left the T.V. behind. Meanwhile, the passenger slid into the driver's seat. He eventually picked up the fleeing shoplifter and both left the lot in a blue Hyundai Elantra, police said.

Police classified the offense as an attempted retail theft.

The shoplifter was described as a 35- to 45-year-old white man wearing blue jeans and a black jacket, police said. His accomplice was a white man wearing a blue work-style jumpsuit.

Jeff, Don't know about the Hyundai, but from the late evening to early morning hours activity on Sauerkraut and Mill Creek is unbelievable! Several months age I was awoken by a commotion in front of my house. A group of older kids hanging out in front of a neighbors house. Went out to investigate. They were casing the places.Lets not even talk about garbage nights. Discard something at 5 PM be sure by 5:15 PM it will be gone. One time someone did it while I was walking up the driveway after putting an item out. This goes on all night.

I actually saw the men looking in windows in Farmington Hills last week. They were in a 4 door silver Hyundai Elantra. There was a sticker or magnet on either side of the license plate. The men were all white and clean cut. The one I caught looking in my windows was wearing jeans and a black jacket, like the shoplifter at WM was. Interesting. If you live along the walking path between Tuscany and Periwinkle, make sure you're locked up tight, because that is where they were creeping.

Good for you! Hope the outside of your home is totally lit up--with floods, etc. Skanks have trouble hiding from the light.
