Police: Thief Steals $16,000 in Air Conditioner Parts
That incident, and a second, seem consistent with scrap metal burglaries.
The owner probably will never know what the thief received for selling the cooling coils from his three commercial air-conditioning units.
What he does know is that the missing coils and any damage done leaves him with a $16,000 hole in his pocket.
A second recent Lower Macungie Township incident, unknown whether it is related, has another area business missing some some heating and cooling equipment as well.

In both instances, the equipment likely was sold at scrap prices.
are investigating a report of a theft of the coils between June 25 and Aug. 20 at 8007 Quarry Road. The location is listed online as being the China and Lamp Crystal Exchange. Police said the owner is Alexander G. Tamerler of Orefield.

Someone disassembled the three air conditioners and took the cooling coils, police said. The loss was valued at $16,000.
In the second incident, someone entered a tool shed at and stole copper wire, an air conditioner and a blower unit for a boiler, police said.
The theft at the 901 Willow Lane recreational facility between 5 p.m. Aug. 13 and 6:30 a.m. Aug. 14, police said. No value was given for the missing items.
