Police: Vodka Thief Had Good Taste, Get-away Driver

The following information was supplied by troopers at the barracks in Fogelsville. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following recent incidents involving Lower Macungie Township were released by :

Charged: Frederick J. Schiller, 23, of Macungie; June 21 with leaving the scene of an accident at 1:16 a.m. along Mill Creek Road near the Firestone store; Schiller was involved in an accident and left the scene on foot, police said; found at his residence and believed to be under the influence of alcohol; DUI charges pending blood-alcohol results.

Attempted burglary: Reported by Jane McManus of 1733 Pinewind Drive; someone unsuccessfully attempted to enter her home between 5 and 9:30 a.m. June 21 through the front door and the garage door, causing damage, police said.

Charged: Wilkyns Melendez, 38, of Allentown June 19 with retail theft at , 1091 Mill Creek Road; attempted to leave the store without paying for several unspecified electronics items, police said; no value given.

Criminal mischief: Reported by Ellen Mulcahy of 4872 Waterford Drive that between 10 p.m. June 20 and 5:30 a.m. June 21 someone entered the property and threw her lawn furniture into her in-ground swimming pool, police said.

Charged: Mernaly Yoland Reyes-Rodriguez, 18, of Allentown and Evette Martinez, 20, of Bethlehem June 18 with retail theft at Wal-Mart, 1091 Mill Creek Road; took two TV mounts from sales shelf and attempted to "return" them for credit, police said.

Criminal mischief: Reported by Glen Klien of 8800 Longswamp Road; ground cable to the electric service of his barn was pulled away from his barn etween midnight June 7 and 5 p.m. June 15, police said.

Criminal mischief: Reported by Barry Lee Dries of 7871 Mountain Road; vehicle window reported damaged at 6:30 p.m. June 23, police said; no value given.

Retail theft: Reported June 19 at the Shoppe, 6900 Hamilton Blvd.; a $59.99 bottle of Ciroc coconut-flavored vodka stolen from the shelf by a man who left in a black station wagon; the man was about 40, 6-foot-1, 220 pounds, had black hair, a black goatee and a diamond earring in his left ear, police said; a blond-haired woman drove the car.

Charged: Kenny Wayne Efferson, 49, and Heather Ann Efferson, 34, both of Livingston, La., with retail theft at Wal-Mart, 1091 Mill Creek Road; attempted to leave the store June 23 without paying for $41.88 worth of items, police said.

Theft: Reported by James John McLaughlin of Allentown; vehicle registration plate taken between 5 a.m. June 20 and 10 a.m. June 23 at the lot of the , 4440 Hamilton Blvd., police said.

Charged: 17-year-old boy with underage purchase, consumption, possession or transportation of malt or brewed beverage at 1324 Brassie Lane at 10:50 p.m. June 23, police said.
