Presentation Of Police Services Study Draws A Crowd

The report delivered at the Lower Macungie Township Community Center on Tuesday night detailed the pros and cons of maintaining township police services through the Pennsylvania State Police versus creating a Lower Macungie Township police force.

About 80 residents turned out to hear criminal justice expert Gary Cordner discuss the findings of his Lower Macungie Township Police Services Study at the Township Community Center Tuesday night.

Cordner will present the final report on his findings to the township Board of Commissioners at the end of December. He said that unless he uncovers something monumental between now and then, he expects his final report to be quite similar to what he presented to residents Tuesday.

Cordner, along with his wife AnnMarie Cordner, conducted the study on behalf of the township. Both are criminal justice professors at Kutztown University. Gary Cordner was appointed interim mayor of Macungie earlier this year and was elected to a full term as mayor last week.
