Sleeping Driver Nearly Hits House, Police Say
Her vehicle travels about 100 feet, hits two sets of shrubs and a house railing before being stopped by a tree, troopers report.
A Macungie driver who recently fell asleep and nearly crashed into an Upper Milford home was fortunate only to receive minor injuries, according to police.
Dorothy A. Beck, 76, was northbound on Kings Highway S. at 2:11 p.m. April 23 when she nodded off, according to state police at Fogelsville. Her Kia Forte crossed the southbound lane, traveled 15 feet and struck shrubbery, then continued another 36 feet before striking a bannister in front of the home. After that, the car traveled 21 feet before hitting more shrubs, and finally continued on 21 more feet before colliding with a tree.
The accident occurred near Lenape Park Road, police said.

Beck was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest by Macungie Ambulance Corps and was treated for a minor injury, police said.
Upper Milford Western District Fire Department assisted at the scene, police said.

Beck was cited for failing to maintain her lane of travel, police said.
