State Police Release Lower Macungie Incidents

The following information was supplied by troopers at the barracks in Fogelsville. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

released the following recent incidents for Lower Macungie Township:

Access device fraud: Reported Aug. 13 by a 43-year-old Shoeneck Road resident; merchandise totaling $112 purchased by someone else at a Target store in Virginia using her charge card, police said.

Theft: Reported Aug. 18 by Steven Krause of 7765 Mountain Road; trailer hitch and iron anvil stolen from front yard, police said; no value given.

Charged: Amber Capron, 28, of Emmaus; Aug. 3 with simple assault at Camp Olympic, 3050 S. Cedar Crest Blvd.; verbal altercation escalated and resulted in victim Tarah Bartholmew, 32, also of Emmaus, receiving minor injuries and a deep scratch, police said; Capron also hurt her hand when she punched a window following the altercation.

Charged: Ashley Marie Werst of Mertztown; charged Aug. 16 with retail theft at Kohl's Department Store, 6900 Hamilton Blvd.; concealed $150 in merchandise in her purses, police said.

Burglary: Reported Aug. 18 by Evelyn Dietz of Birchwood Circle; residence entered by prying off rear window screen; items taken were a rifle, handgun and jewelry, police said; $1,300 total estimated value.

Criminal mischief: Reported Aug. 19 by Lowell David Smith of the 7000 block of Hillcrest Drive; windshield damage with unknown object, police said; no value given.

Motor vehicle accident: Reported at 7:51 p.m. Aug. 14 on Willow Lane near John Fries Drive; William C. Parks, 61, of Macungie struck a utility pole and a tree and vehicle came to rest in a creek, police said; driver fell asleep before impact and was not injured; cited for failing to maintain his lane of travel.

Motor vehicle accident: Reported at 5:14 p.m. Aug. 11 at 5194 Hamilton Blvd.; Danielle L. Schappel, 23, of Emmaus slightly injured when she struck a stopped vehicle driven by Robert Inselmann, 47, of Allentown, pushing it into a third operated by Jessica L. Squitieri, 27, of Whitehall Township, police said; Schappel cited for following too closely.

Hit-and-run: Reported at 2:46 p.m. Aug. 19 on Lower Macungie Road at Willow Spur; an unknown driver struck from behind the vehicle driven by Robyn L. Matz, 47, of Macungie and continued on the shoulder without stopping, heading west toward Alburtis, police said; Matz received an unspecified injury and was treated at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest; no vehicle description given of offending vehicle except that it has front-end damage.
