Woman Accused of Meat Mallet Attack Waives Hearing

Judith Kauffman Savadelis is due back in Lehigh County Court on Aug. 23 to face attempted homicide charge for beating her mother.

Judith Kauffman Savadelis, 55, of the 2507 Ludwig Court in Lower Macungie Township, waived a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge Michael J. Faulkner.

Savadelis is due back in Lehigh County Court on Aug. 23 to face charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, possessing instruments of crime, simple assault and harassment according to a story on lehighvalleylive.com.

Kauffman, of Berks County, spent time in the intensive care unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital with severe head injuries, it said.

Savadelis, whose attorney John Waldron called her a "meek, quiet woman," in a Morning Call story was "disassociated when she committed these acts," Waldron said.

His hope is that Savadelis will serve no jail time, the story said.

Savadelis is free on bail paid by her father, it said.
