VIDEO: Lower Mac FD Demos Rescue Techniques
Lower Macungie Fire Department's Open House Included a Medevac landing and a rescue demonstration.
Gleaming firetrucks, a Macungie ambulance, a state police cruiser and motorcycle or the MedEvac helicopter. Take your pick. Any of these vehicles will widen the eyes of children and even make adults sit up and take notice.
All of those vehicles were present on Saturday at the Lower Macungie Fire Department's Brandywine Station at Willow and Sauerkraut lanes for an Open House to observe Fire Prevention Week. The anticipated reactions by young and old alike? They were present, too.
Throw in a bunch of hot dogs, balloons and face painting, and the day made for a fun way to spread a safety message and alert the public to the resources that are available to assist them in their time of need.

Besides the tower truck extended at full length toward the sky, fire engines with all compartments open and showing stored equipment, and turnout gear available for children to try on, other highlights included a MedEvac landing and an automobile extrication demonstration with hand tools and the Jaws of Life.
