$2 Million Powerball Ticket Sold in Lehigh Valley

In the third Lehigh Valley winning ticket of the month, ticket holder won $2 million Powerball with five numbers right -- but not the Powerball -- in Wednesday drawing.

One Powerball ticket worth $2 million from the Oct. 17 drawing was sold at Wegmans in Hanover Township, Northampton County, according to the Pennsylvania Lottery.

The ticket correctly matched all five white balls -- 01-07-10-23-42 -- but not the red Powerball 35, and added Power Play, which sets the prize at $2 million, less 25 percent federal withholding.

Wegmans will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling this winning ticket.

Lottery officials cannot confirm the identity of the winner until the prize is claimed and the ticket is validated. Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball winners have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes.

This is the third time in the last three months that a big Pennsylvania Lottery prize has been won in the Lehigh Valley.

In the 2010-11 fiscal year, in addition to awarding nearly $38.8 million in prizes to Northampton County winners, the Pennsylvania Lottery contributed nearly $24.2 million to programs serving the county’s older residents.
