The newly elected members of the Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners were sworn in last week—newcomers Ronald Beitler and Brian Higgins, along with incumbent Ryan Conrad, who was named president of the five-member board.

To help township residents get to (better) know their government leaders, Patch posed five "fun" questions to new commissioners.

Today, Ryan Conrad takes our questions.

Q. What's your New Year's resolution?

A. I do not typically do resolutions, but my family sets goals for the year that we try to accomplish individually and as a family.

Q. What's one of your favorite Lower Macungie restaurants?

A. It is hard to choose just one. For date nights with my wife, we like the Stoned Crab. For family nights we enjoy the Buckeye Tavern. On pizza nights, it's usually delivery from Italiano Delite. And, for a quick sandwich it's definitely Brookside Deli.

Q. What's your favorite spot in the township?

A. East Texas Park tops the list because I can walk there with my family using the path that connects it with my neighborhood, Harvest Fields. My children really enjoy it there.

Q. What was the best holiday gift you received this year?

A. The satisfaction of donating dozens of toys to children in need throughout the Lehigh Valley through a partnership with my company and Toys for Tots. It felt great to know the we helped parents make their children's Christmas wishes come true.

Q. What's one thing that most people don't know about you?

A. When I retire I want to open an Irish Pub. It just so happens we can really use one in Lower Macungie!
