Linn Walker Asked to Resign From Macungie Council After Alleged Lewd Behavior

A member of the public and another council member ask Linn Walker to honor his word and resign.

Of all the news that comes from Macungie Council, lately much has been about council itself.

The question of agenda order was part of Monday night almost 5-hour meeting, and another part was another point at which Vice President Greg Hutchison may have resigned.

Both actions were seconded but since votes were taken on neither, they become part of the Oct. 2 meeting.

Another topic came up twice that night: the resignation of Council Member Linn Walker who recently was charged with open lewdness for an alleged incident of public urination on Aug. 3. Monday's meeting was the first Walker attended since the incident.

John Long of Macungie approached the podium with three issues, the last of which involved Walker.

"I came to your house and you said you would resign but then you said council members called you and said you didn't have to resign," Long said.

Long wanted to know which council member or members told him he didn't have to resign and why.

"We have a right to know," he said.

Walker replied that he had no comment on the issue.

Shortly thereafter, Council Member David Boyko addressed council, and Walker in particular:

"Do you really feel that we feel good about this? That we want someone who is charged with lewd behavior, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct representing us?" Boyko said

"How council acts will determine the public's reaction to us.

"Walker should resign," Boyko said.

Council President Jean Nagle said it was a private issue and didn't involve council.

Council President Nagle is wrong. A public person's behavior, in public, is not a personal matter alone. Walker doesn't have the decency to use his house bathroom, so why expect him to have the decency to resign his position and bring some honor back to Council? Let him run out his term, and then forget him.

It appears we have our answer....JEAN NAUGLE for obvious reasons does not wish to do the right thing and ask Walker to resign!! We cannot help but wonder if Walker were anyone else other than her friends and cronies, he WOULD be GONE by now!!!! She lacks as much character as Walker does!!!

Walker should resign IMO.
