Oh, Come All Ye Faithful . . . to a Very Rainy Macungie

Borough kicks off Christmas season with scaled-back tree-lighting ceremony caused by downpours.

Colored lights shown brightly through the raindrops that poured down Tuesday on the in Macungie during an abbreviated tree-lighting ceremoney to kick off the Christmas season.

The event was planned whether it rained or skies were clear and, well, it poured at times.  That meant bands canceled and only the hardy showed up to huddle under the train shelter to try to stay dry.

But a small group did arrive to honor the tradition.  The lights lit up, a short ceremony was held, refreshments were enjoyed and the Christmas season was under way in the borough.
