Tilghman Street Set for Aug. 30 Opening
PennDOT and engineers say all systems are on schedule for an Aug. 30 reopening of the major Upper Macungie artery between Farm Bureau and Blue Barn roads.
Tilghman Street, which has been closed since early April for repair to two structurally deficient bridges, will be open by Aug. 30, according to engineers with knowledge of the project.
Scott Stenroos, an engineer with KCE Engineering, told Upper Macungie Township supervisors last week that the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is on schedule with bridge repairs taking place between the intersections of Blue Barn and Farm Bureau roads.
Two bridges were deemed structurally deficient.

"The plan is on schedule," Stenroos told supervisors. "There's some miscellaneous bridge work to be done, signage and guardrail work.
The intersection of Tilghman Street and Farm Bureau Road was temporarily reconfigured as a three-way stop controlled intersection (stop signs) to allow access to and from Tilghman Street on the western side of the bridges.
