Township Officials "Deeply Troubled" By Alleged Rape

Lower Macungie Township issued a statement about a sex assault case

Lower Macungie Township issued the following statement Friday after the Lehigh County District Attorney annouced the against a township worker:

"Last week, Lower Macungie Township was informed by the Pennsylvania State Police that an investigation was being conducted against one of its employees, James Andrews.  Since then, the Township Commissioners have been advised of the issue and we have worked with authorities and cooperated in every way in their investigation.  Given the serious nature of the allegations, the employee was immediately suspended from his employment.

We are deeply troubled at the nature of these allegations and the fact that some misconduct allegedly occurred at our facilities.

While we will continue to monitor the situation closely, frankly, this is a matter for the authorities.  The Township will continue to cooperate fully with the investigation, but the Township will not make any further comment on this matter.  All inquiries regarding this matter should be directed to the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office."
