Work Begins Today on Main Street Bridge

Weather permitting, repairs will be complete in September.

The Pensylvania Department of Transportation begins work today  -- weather permitting -- on the bridge over a tributary of Swope Creek along the 100 block of East Main Street in Macungie.

PennDOT will make deck and joint repairs to the adjacent concrete box-beam bridge that was constructed in 1960, and will replace the guide rail. It will also pave the approaches to the bridge which measures 23 feet long by 75 feet wide and has  average daily traffic of 14,054 vehicles.

During the repairs, travel lanes on Main Street (Route 100)  will be narrowed between South Lea and Walnut streets.
