East Penn Board Member to Speak on Budget at CEPTA Meeting

Lynn Donches, East Penn School Board member, will deliver a presentation on the district's preliminary 2013-14 budget at next Tuesday's meeting of the Concerned East Penn Taxpayers Association.

East Penn School Board member Lynn Donches will be the featured speaker at the April meeting of the Concerned East Penn Taxpayers Association (CEPTA).

The program titled “East Penn School Budget Talks,” will focus on the East Penn School District preliminary budget for the 2013-14 school year.

With the 2013-14 budget, the East Penn administration has decided to not seek exceptions that would allow the district to go above the Pennsylvania state-mandated maximum tax increase of 1.7 percent, according to a CEPTA flier about the program. That means the administration’s preliminary budget has set the starting point for the tax increase at a 1.69 percent, the flier says.

During the East Penn school board meeting where the budget was initially presented, Superintendent of Schools Thomas L. Seidenberger said that he feels confident the 1.69 percent tax increase will be lower by the time the final budget is approved, according to the CEPTA flier.

“The presentation will use actual beginning and ending year historical information from previous school budgets to analyze trends, show patterns and look at the direction EPSD [East Penn School District] may be headed. This program is designed to find out what questions and concerns are on the mind of the public as this year's budget is finalized,” the flier states.
