The Spring 2014 musical at Emmaus High School will be "Beauty and the Beast" if all goes according to plan.

The Emmaus High School Drama Department has made the announcement that EHS will be presenting "Beauty and the Beast" next year as its spring musical. Director Jill Kuebler posted on the Emmaus High School website that the show will run March 19-22, 2014 and auditions will be in November of the 2013-2014 school year.

The announcement has caused much buzz among the theater students at EHS, who are already anticipating auditions and beginning to prepare for the roles they want.

Students are wary, however, since this year Emmaus ran into some trouble obtaining the rights to "Cinderella," causing the show switch to "Legally Blonde."

As a drama student myself, I can say that this was a bit of a traumatic experience. For about a month, we had no clue what show we would be presenting, and only ended up finding out for sure about two weeks out from auditions. Hopefully the same thing doesn't happen again next year.

If all goes smoothly, Emmaus will receive permission to put on the show and it'll be all systems go! If not, then it's back to the drawing board.
