Emmaus Senior Football Players Dance With Their Moms

It's a tradition at the annual Homecoming pep rally, and it's "Awwww"-some.

Special to Patch By Chrissy Cilento, Emmaus High School Senior

It's always an "Awwww," moment when, every year at Homecoming, the senior football players of Emmaus High School break it down with their moms on the football field at the pep rally.

This year, Lilly Freeman of Allegro Dance Studios in Emmaus choreographed the dance and somehow managed to get a dozen teenage boys to do jazz squares and grapevines.

It may sound about as easy as herding cats, but Freeman says it was actually “a very positive experience.”

Of course, pulling off a feat like this isn’t possible without an intense amount of practice. The boys and their moms began rehearsing the third week of July and have been faithfully coming to practices every week since.

According to Freeman, the boys were just as dedicated to coming to practice as their moms, which made the event a true success.

“For the boys, showing up and being there with their moms took great courage and heart. For the moms? They definitely took it to the next level. They were into it! A huge support for their sons, from their personalized EHS T-shirts, to their gold sequins sneakers. They were awesome,”  Freeman said.

The dedication and connection between the moms and their sons were definitely evident on the football field Thursday when they performed. Not only was every move executed with precision, but everyone could tell they were all having a blast and really cared about each other, making the audience do a collective “Awww” by the end of the number.

Bravo!
