Lincoln Elementary May Get New Roof, Playground Surface

Both projects would occur over the summer.

During the superintendent's report at Monday night's meeting of the East Penn Board of School Directors, Thomas Seidenberger said the district's buildings are in good shape.

He credits regular maintenance as the foundation for their good condition.

To that end, Seidenberger announced that the roof on Lincoln Elementary School may be replaced over the summer. Also, the school's playground may be resurfaced.

Both projects are subject to the board's approval.

The total cost for the two projects would be about $675,000. The money would come from the district's capital reserve fund into which, over the years, money has been transferred from the general fund.

Another project on the horizon will be boiler work at Emmaus High School, Seideberger said.

"We're wasting heat and money," he said.

The money for the work could be taken from the refinancing of some debt, he said, and there would be a two- to three-year payback on the boiler work.

No time frame has yet been identified for the boiler work.
