Now Hiring: East Penn School Board

The process to fill the open seat on the East Penn Board of School Directors is already underway.

Steps are already being taken to fill the open seat on the East Penn Board of School Directors created by the resignation of Julian Stolz. Monday night the board voted to accept Stolz's resignation from the board and to fast-track the process of finding his replacement.

Interested candidates can contact Cecilia R. Birdsell, Board Secretary, by email at cbirdsell@eastpennsd.org or telephone at 610-966-8333 to request an application for the position. The application can also be downloaded from the East Penn website.

The application deadline is 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7.

According to the schedule approved by the board Monday night, open interviews will be held prior to the next advertised school board meeting on Monday, Nov. 11 at 6 p.m.

A writeup posted on the East Penn School District website on Tuesday explains the process further:

Each candidate will have a maximum of two minutes to make an opening statement, the website says. The board will ask candidates a series of 4 to 5 questions, and then the board will vote by ballot. The selected candidate will then take the oath of office at the Nov. 11 regular board meeting that is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.

To be eligible for Stolz's seat, the candidate must be a United States citizen, a resident of Pennsylvania, at least 18 years of age and must have been a resident of the EPSD for at least one year, according to the webite.
