Julian Stolz Dated Teen, Refuses to Resign From School Board

East Penn School Board Member Julian Stolz admits to dating an Emmaus High School student while a school board member.

On Monday night, East Penn parents once again sought the resignation of school director Julian Stolz and once again Stolz said that he has no intention of giving up his seat on the board.

This time, the calls for Stolz to step down from his elected post were triggered by his admission of having dated a 15-year-old Emmaus High School student while he was 20 years old and a school board member.

Stolz discusses this relationship in his blog The Stolz Report (reposted on Patch), as well as his interactions with girls through a teen dating website known as TeenSpot.

Stolz said at Monday’s school board meeting that he has no plans to resign from the board although he announced through a blog posted on Sunday that will not seek re-election. Stolz, 25, is currently dating the woman, now a 20-year-old Emmaus High School graduate.

He said that his only “error” was not resigning from the board when he first began dating the woman, but “that was during a different term” of office. He also said the relationship only lasted four months at that time. He has since started dating her again.

“I met her at an end-of-school-year get-together (in 2008), and dated her with the full consent of her parents,” Stolz explained. “My only error in judgment here was choosing to remain on the school board instead of resigning at that time" (to be with her).

“I have never been in my life so in love, content and happy with anyone. I am truly blessed to have her in my life,” he said.

Stolz also apologized to his fellow school board members at the end of the meeting for “the three-ring circus that things in (his) past have caused tonight,” referring to the East Penn parents and citizens who came to the meeting to talk about Stolz’s actions and call for his resignation during the public comment portion of the meeting.

Hillary Smith, a stay-at-home mother of three, called Stolz’s relationship with a minor “a gross neglect of his duties as a school board director” and evidence that he is “not morally capable of the judgment necessary to deal with sensitive matters regarding improper conduct with students.”

Her comments at Monday's school board meeting ended with this: “Mr. Stolz, I hope you do the right thing for once and resign and spare the school district any further embarrassment and the rest of us from exposure to your disgusting behavior.”

Last spring, parents demanded Stolz's resignation because Stolz retweeted a comment by former South Carolina GOP Executive Director Todd Kincannon calling public schools "brain rotting" and saying he (Kincannon) pities the "proletariat for having to send their inferior crotchfruit to them."

Stolz is a graduate of Emmaus High School and has been on the East Penn School Board since 2007.
