Whiz Kids: Shoemaker Elementary First Graders
Through song, they learned that friends need to work together.

Accomplishment: They performed a school musical for the students, teachers, parents and grandparents.
Key to Awesomeness: They sang their hearts out while performing the class musical “Team up for Learning.” The June 14 production was directed by first grade teacher Patrice Arnold.

The program stressed the importance of teamwork with fellow students, family and sports.
Through their songs, the All-stars, as they called themselves, described their activities during the school year. These included:

- Visiting a farm to learn about animals and their contribution to our lives
- A trip to the Lehigh Valley Zoo
- Students created a garden and compared it to “life’s garden…each of us is a flower, precious and so dear.”
- They watched caterpillars change into butterflies; then released them when big enough
- Students joined the “green team” and learned how to make the planet a cleaner place to live
- They learned “friends need to work together.”
Students left the audience with the following thought:
“We hope you enjoyed our musical today and it touched your heart in some way
And that you live life to the fullest each and every day
Plant seeds of kindness and gratitude and let everyone know
That you love learning through the actions that you show!”
