Community: Emergency Services Day

Community Emergency Preparedness Day:

Do you have a plan to face an emergency?
Are you ready to protect yourself and your family?

AREA FIRE COMPANIES ARE sponsoring:
“WANNA BE A FIREFIGHTER”
Junior Firefighter Challenge

Fun events for our youth centered around being a firefighter, similar to an obstacle course. You will be able to search and rescue by crawling through a tube, climb through a window, spray water with the fire hose, and actually carry the hose pack. All these tasks are something your volunteer firemen do for realv when the alarm rings at your local fire company.

A Scavenger Hunt sponsored by the American Red Cross will also be exciting for everyone. In addition, events are planned for ‘tween-agers’ and adults. There will be fun activities and prizes as citizens learn to better protect their families and community.v

MedEvac, and MASH units will be displayed by area hospitals; PA State Police will be on hand with drug awareness and other demos.v

Emergency Management Agency (EMA) will have displays on getting your family ready for emergencies and much more.v

Area Police Departments will have ID-a-Kid, DUI andv underage drinking awareness, and K-9 demos.

We all need to understand that preparedness goes beyond fire alarms, smoke detectors, dead-bolt locks and extra food in the pantry. All of us really need to understand what it truly means to be “Ready”.
