Due to the expectation of inclement weather, East Penn School officials have postponed the annual Rock-a-Thon at Eyer Middle School until Feb. 3.
Eyer staff and students have been rocking this event for almost 20 years.
The Rock-a-Thon is 25 teams with about 7 students each who take shifts rocking in some type of rocking chair all night.

Parents and teachers chaperone for various shift lengths.
There are many prizes including Best Theme, Most Money raised (individually) and Most Money by a team, etc. The non-rocking students get to watch movies, eat, play in organized games and tournaments in the gym and have a great time.

Money is raised via pledges and the kids must have a minimum of $20 in pledges to participate.
Initially, Rock-a-thon money went to Dream Come True, an organization that raises money for terminally or seriously ill children so that they can have a “Dream” actually happen.
This year, however, Eyer is ear-marking the proceeds for “Justin’s House,” a Bethany Beach home that hosts no-cost vacations for terminally ill children and their families.
Eyer’s donation will go towards upkeep, taxes, food and the like.
Last year, more than $7,500 dollars was raised!
