Fire company:  “I am a firefighter and the computer man here at [].”

Training so far:  “I am trained in vehicle rescue, water rescue and boat rescue.  I also have EMS training (Emergency Medical Services) and am trained to handle a hazard material situation.  But training is ongoing.  We take classes several times a year in addition to the weekly training.”

What's it like being a firefighter?  “I enjoy it. I started when I was 14-years-old because I thought it was something cool to try out.  Now, it is very interesting—every experience is different. It’s very rewarding to know you have helped someone in their time of need.”

How do your loved ones feel about you putting your life in danger?  “Everyone has always been very supportive.  Before I could drive, my parents drove me to the station, no matter what time or what we were doing.”

Tell us a story you'll never forget about your firefighting experience.  “I don’t have any very exciting experiences, yet.  Maybe in a few years, I will.”

What would you tell people interested in joining your fire company?  “Come on down.  But now you must be 16-years-old to join the department.”
