Teen on Scooter Hurt Driving Between Cars, Police Say

13-year-old was treated at the scene in Lower Macungie Township, troopers report.

A 13-year-old Macungie-area boy was slightly hurt recently when he rode his scooter between vehicles and struck the side of one in Lower Macungie Township, police said. Several vehicles were stopped on Willow Lane between Route 100 and Sequoia Drive, according to state police at Fogelsville. The boy was crossing the travel lanes of Willow Lane at 4:17 p.m. April 15. As the teen worked his way between the stopped vehicles, he ran into the side of the Toyota Carolla driven by Barry Geist, 66, of Macungie, police said. The boy received minor injuries, police said. He was treated at the scene by Macungie Ambulance Corps, but did not require transport to a hospital. No one was cited in the accident.

Sleeping Driver Nearly Hits House, Police Say

Her vehicle travels about 100 feet, hits two sets of shrubs and a house railing before being stopped by a tree, troopers report.

A Macungie driver who recently fell asleep and nearly crashed into an Upper Milford home was fortunate only to receive minor injuries, according to police. Dorothy A. Beck, 76, was northbound on Kings Highway S. at 2:11 p.m. April 23 when she nodded off, according to state police at Fogelsville. Her Kia Forte crossed the southbound lane, traveled 15 feet and struck shrubbery, then continued another 36 feet before striking a bannister in front of the home. After that, the car traveled 21 feet before hitting more shrubs, and finally continued on 21 more feet before colliding with a tree. The accident occurred near Lenape Park Road, police said. Driver Veers to Avoid Car, Hits Pole, Police Say

Cars tangle, pushing one vehicle into a utility pole at an Upper Milford intersection, troopers report.

Two Macungie-area residents were injured -- one moderately so -- recently when the driver attempted to avoid another vehicle that had pulled out in front of him in Upper Milford Township, according to police. Paul M. Fenstermaker, 80, of Macungie was headed southbound on Kings Highway N. at 7:45 a.m. April 27, said state police at Fogelsville. A car driven by Garrett A. Horton, 20, also of Macungie, was headed west on E. Macungie Road and was stopped at the intersection with Kings Highway N. Horton stopped for a stop sign and pulled into the intersection, beginning his left-hand turn onto southbound Kings Highway N. Who Hit Chevy Malibu on Sauerkraut Lane?

Driver of white Chevrolet Corvette sought in crash at Sauerkraut and Willow lanes, troopers report.

The driver of a Chevrolet Corvette is sought in a recent hit-and-run accident in Lower Macungie Township, police said. According to state police at Fogelsville, a green Chevrolet Malibu driven by an unidentified man from the Allentown area was southbound on Willow Lane about 8:40 p.m April 12. That car stopped at the intersection with Sauerkraut Lane. A white Chevy Corvette was turning left from Sauerkraut northbound onto Willow Lane when it lost control and struck the Malibu on the rear driver's side tire, police said. The driver of the Corvette briefly stopped, but then left without exchanging information. No injuries were reported. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-395-1438.

Head-on Crash Causes Minor Injuries, Police Say

Alburtis man's car crossed into the path of another when he failed to round a curve, troopers report.

Two area drivers recently escaped a head-on collision without serious injuries in Lower Macungie Township, according to police. Wayne L. Kline, 65, of Alburtis was traveling east on East Texas Road and failed to round a curve about 8:10 a.m. April 12.  Kline's Honda Accord crossed the center line and went into the lane of travel of an oncoming car, striking it head on, said state police at Fogelsville. The westbound car was driven by Evangelia L. Koutroulelis, 24, of Topton, police said. Both Koutroulelis' car, a Chevrolet Cobalt, and Kline's car received disabling damage. Both drivers were slightly injured but did not require medical transport, police said. Kline was cited for failing to maintain his lane of travel, police said.

Three Hurt in Lower Mac Crash, Police Say

Pickup truck ran red light at Brookside Road and Sauerkraut Lane, pushing car onto its side, troopers say.

Three Emmaus youths were injured -- the driver moderately -- on March 17 in a two-vehicle traffic accident in Lower Macungie Township in which their car rolled onto its side, police said. The other vehicle, a pickup truck, ran a red light, according to state police at Fogelsville. The Kia Soul driven by Thomas R. Ninesling, 16, was turning from Sauerkraut Lane onto Brookside Road about 1:22 p.m., police said. As Ninesling was in the intersection, William D. Capwell, 43, of Macungie did not stop at a red light while he was traveling south on Brookside Road. The front of Capwell's Toyota Tundra struck the driver's side door of Ninesling's car, police said. Ninesling's car rolled over and landed on the passenger's side. Ninesling was …

Pair Hurt in 2-Vehicle Crash, Police Say

SUV stopped at stop sign but pulled out in front of car, causing Lower Macungie accident, troopers report.

Two people from Kutztown were injured recently in a two-vehicle accident in Lower Macungie Township, according to police. The crash occurred when a Chevrolet Blazer driven by Tricia D. McDonald, 20, of Allentown pulled out in front of the car driven by the Kutztown man about 4:30 p.m. March 5, according to state police at Fogelsville. McDonald stopped at a stop sign at N. Hedgerow Drive, then turned left onto Kressler Road. The Subaru XT driven south on Kressler Road by William C. Pitman, 43, could not avoid striking the left front side of McDonald's sport-utility vehicle with his front end, police said. The two vehicles came to rest in the intersection. Pickup Truck Sought in Hit-Run Crash, Police Say

No one was injured in four-vehicle, chain-reaction accident in Lower Macungie Township, troopers report.

Troopers are looking for the driver of a black 1997 Dodge Dakota pickup truck following a recent hit-and-run accident in Lower Macungie Township, police said. The crash occurred at 5:50 p.m. Feb. 15 at Lower Macungie and Millrace roads, according to state police at Fogelsville. A car driven by Robert Davies, 71, of Emmaus was traveling west on Lower Macungie Road, police said. The car driven by Ian Wetherhold, 18, of Macungie was following. Behind Wetherhold was Emily Jolley, 18, of Emmaus, police said. And, the pickup truck driven by the unkown hit-and-run driver was bringing up the rear. The pickup truck could not stop in time to avoid hitting the car driven by Jolley, police said. That set off a chain-reaction crash of all four vehicles…

Rig Smashes Car on I-78, Police Say

Tractor-trailer driver didn't see automobile in his 'blind spot' and drove into him on Lower Macungie highway, causing injury, troopers report.

A Hyundai vs. a Kenworth. You can probably guess who got the best of this tussle recently on Interstate 78 in Lower Macungie Township. And, you would be right. The good news is that the results weren't a whole lot worse. The tractor-trailer driven by Derrick P. Dupre, 28, of Denham Springs, La., was eastbound in the passing lane of I-78 at 11:10 a.m. Feb. 5, according to state police at Fogelsville. Just after merging onto Route 309, Dupre shifted to the right lane but did not see the Hyundai in his "blind spot." That car was driven by Thomas R. Maggio, 58, of Ephrata, Lancaster County. Rear-End Crash Causes Neck Injury, Police Say

Driver struck from behind at Lower Macungie intersection is taken to hospital for whiplash-type injury, troopers report.

An Allentown-area woman recently received a neck injury when her car was struck from behind at an intersection in Lower Macungie Township, police said. Judith E. Urquizo, 51, was stopped at a red light at Hamilton Boulevard and Interstate 78 at 10:17 a.m. Feb. 4, according to state police at Fogelsville. Her Honda Civic was hit by a car traveling behind her. The second vehicle, a Chevrolet Malibu driven by Gladys J. Santee, 86 of Orwigsburg, Schuylkill County, police said. She was unable to stop in time, crashing into Urquizo's car and causing the whiplash-type injury.
