Macungie Woman Stole Cop Cars, Led Authorities on Chase Through Philly, Police Say

Local charges are still unclear, police say, in the case of a woman who allegedly stole police cars and led officers on a chase through Camden and Philadelphia on Tuesday.

A Macungie woman stole Camden and Philadelphia police cars then led officers on chases through both cities Tuesday morning, police say. Shayna Sykes, 23, of 326 Oxford Place, was identified after the mother of Shayna's boyfriend, Blake Ryan Bills, 23, also of the Oxford Place address, watched the chase on television and recognized her. Bills's mother then contacted Sykes' grandmother, Sharon Sykes, who shares her Macungie home with Shayna and Bills, police say. Sharon Sykes, in turn, contacted Macungie Police Chief Edward Harry Jr., with whom she had filed a missing persons and stolen vehicle report on Monday. Sharon Sykes had reported that Shayna and Bills had "borrowed her car Friday and she hadn't seen them since," Harry said.
