Macungie Traffic Stop Yields Drug-related Charge, Police Say

The Lancaster County man also was charged with driving with a suspended license, officers report.

A recent traffic stop in Macungie brought trouble for a Lancaster County man, according to police. Shawn Reppert, 25, of Lititz was stopped at 1 a.m. Jan. 18 at Chestnut and Race streets for an unspecified traffic violation, according to Macungie police. Reppert was found to be driving under suspension, but also was found with drug paraphernalia with methamphetamine residue, police said. He was taken to Lehigh County Central Booking in Allentown and arraigned on both charges before Magisterial District Judge David Harding. Bail was set at $5,000, according to county court records. Blood was drawn and additional charges may be brought upon receipt of toxicology test results to determine whether Reppert was driving under the influence, …

Five iPod Touches Disappear

Electronics devices are reported stolen from delivery truck at Lower Macungie store, police say.

The iPod Touch was so popular that it recently was grabbed -- five of them in fact. Five iPod Touches were stolen out of a truck trailer in the Wal-Mart receiving area outside the 1091 Mill Creek Road store in Lower Macungie Township, according to state police at Fogelsville. The five were valued at $975. The theft occured between Feb. 9 and 11, police said. Officials from the same store reported that 30 to 40 car batteries were missing Dec. 20 from an enclosed area to the rear of the store.

Dog's Nose for Drugs Lands Macungie Man in Jail

Police canine sniffs out marijuana during investigation of domestic disturbance, report says.

Sammy, the Macungie police dog, has a nose for trouble that led to a recent arrest, according to borough police. Police said they were called to a Vine Street residence at 3:15 p.m. Feb. 19 to investigate a domestic disturbance. Once there, police said Sammy was used to search the residence. The dog sniffed out an undisclosed amount of marijuana. Police said they charged Mark Girodo, whom records show is 54 and lives at 980 Vine St., with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. In another Macungie incident, police said that one or more vandals damaged "One Way" signs overnight Feb. 15 at the entrance and exit of the parking lot at the Macungie Post Office, 51 West End Trail. No value was given for the damage.

Public Urination Leads to Two Arrests in Macungie

Police say report of suspicious vehicle leads to disorderly conduct and drug charges.

It may seem hard to believe that the call of nature could go so wrong. But, for two teens in Macungie recently, it did. Macungie police were called to the Turkey Hill at 141 W. Main St. at 7:40 p.m. Jan. 29 for a report of a suspicious vehicle behind the store. Turns out there was nothing suspicious about the vehicle, but the unnamed male occupant from Macungie was seen urinating nearby, police said.  He was charged with disorderly conduct. While there, police said they found another occupant, a 17-year-old Zionsville girl, had marijuana.  She was charged with possession of the illegal drug. Two Lower Macungie arrests related to retail theft incidents, police say.

Two area residents recently learned the hard way that if you're going to be involved in retail theft, it might be best not to be carrying illegal drugs, according to police. Michael Christopher Kovalick was accused Oct. 13 of leaving Wal-Mart with a video game system in his cart without paying for it, according to state police at Fogelsville. Kovalick was held for stealing the $134 item from the store at 1091 Mill Creek Road. Police said Kovalick consented to a search of his vehicle, which produced eight hypodermic needles, clear plastic bags, a small amount of suspected marijuana, a tin foil pipe containing suspected burnt marijuana, five suspected hydrocodon pills and two prescription papers not prescribed to Kovalick.
