East Penn School Board member Julian Stolz is also running for Emmaus mayor and Emmaus Borough Council, but he won't be allowed to serve on all three bodies if he wins.
Controversial East Penn School Board member Julian Stolz will be on Tuesday's primary ballot running for both Emmaus mayor and Emmaus Borough Council. But which seat does he really want? He is prohibited by law from holding all of them at once. Stolz declined this week to answer questions from Patch about his commitment to the school board and his interest in borough council. Stolz did announce that he has decided to support Mayor Winfield Iobst for re-election and will withdraw from the mayor's race as soon as he "can legally do so." Stolz said he decided to run against the incumbent when he thought Iobst was part of Mayors Against Illegal Guns. Eight candidates are vying for four East Penn School Board seats in Tuesday’s primary election.
Eight candidates, including two incumbents, are seeking four seats on the East Penn School Board. All the candidates have cross-filed, meaning they will appear on both the Democratic and Republican ballots. According the Lehigh County voter registration office, the following candidates are on the ballot for the May 21 primary: The East Penn School District includes Emmaus, Alburtis and Macungie and Lower Macungie and Upper Milford townships. Board seats are four-year terms.

What's happening with the proposed Hamilton Crossings shopping center that will feature the Lehigh Valley's first Costco store?
The $140 million Hamilton Crossings shopping center in Lower Macungie—set to feature the area's first Costco—will be up for an important vote at next week's East Penn School Board meeting, according to a WFMZ report. The school board will be the first of three government bodies asked to approve a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) plan to help pay for the project. A TIF is an economic tool to help develop a site that requires a large amount of money to pay up-front costs. In this case, the costs involve removing waste from iron mining and addressing stormwater issues before the land can be developed. Ideally, the school district, Lower Macungie Township and Lehigh County will each approve their portion of the TIF. The school board meets Monday …

East Penn Invested Citizens (EPIC) and the East Penn Chamber of Commerce invite voters to the Macungie Institute on Tuesday night from 7 to 9 for a chance to meet the candidates running for East Penn School Board in the upcoming May 21 primary. Julian Stolz is grateful the East Penn Board of School Directors has not censured him.
After several meetings at which East Penn School Director Julian Stolz was the topic of several public comments, Monday night's school board meeting was surprisingly Stolz-free until he spoke up just before it was adjourned. Over the past month or so, some associations and posts that Stolz wrote on Twitter were deemed vulgar and extremely insulting to the students of the East Penn School District. Some parents called for his resignation. Other parents wanted the board to censure him, a move that Stolz called "a slap on the wrist."
