LCCC President Don Snyder Needs Open Heart Surgery

Donald Snyder, president of Lehigh Carbon Community College, told the board of trustees Thursday night he will undergo open heart surgery.

Lehigh Carbon Community College President Donald Snyder told the board of trustees Thursday he will extend his medical leave to undergo open heart surgery next Wednesday. Snyder, 61, said he expected to return to work in mid-July. Ann Bieber, senior vice president for administrative services, will serve as acting president. Snyder, who had returned to work Monday after a brief medical leave, read a short statement to the board: "For the past few weeks there has been much speculation and rumors about my absence on the college campus. As the board knows, which was also reported in some of the media, I've been on medical leave for the past month. During that time I've continued to receive medical treatment for some symptoms I was experiencing…

Job Fair at Lehigh Community College July 14

Dozens of Lehigh Valley employers will participate in a regional job fair Saturday, July 14.

U.S. Rep. Charlie Dent will host a job fair at Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) in the Gymnasium located in John G. Berrier Hall, 4525 Education Park Drive, Schnecksville. This event will take place from 10 am to 2 pm Saturday, July 14. The job fair is free and open to anyone seeking a change in employment. This event aims to bring job seekers together with representatives from a wide range of employers from a variety of fields, seeking talented and capable workers for a diverse range of positions. There will also be informative, skill-building services, such as resume writing and interview advice, for those entering the job market. "Staging for Selling" Class Offered at LCCC

Learn how to stage your house so you can sell it

Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) will offer a variety of non-credit courses of special interest this semester.  "Staging for Selling" will be offered from 7 to 9 p.m. on two consecutive Wednesdays - March 21 and 28 - for $35 at the main campus. This class will arm participants with everything they need to know to accentuate the positive aspects of their home in a competitive sales environment. Bring 4x6 or 5x7 photos of your home to class - both inside and out. For maximum effect, take photos of individual sections of rooms as well as the room as a whole. 3-Week Home Repair Class Starts March 21

Learn basics of home carpentry, plumbing and electrical work

A three-week class in basic home repairs will begin March 21 at Lehigh Carbon Community College. The class will focus on home repairs for the resourceful and thrifty. Week one will feature carpentry followed by plumbing on week two and electrical on week three. A list of required materials will be sent out a week before the class begins. Learn About Backyard Chickens at LCCC

Spring classes at community college include backyard chickens

Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) will offer a variety of non-credit courses of special interest this semester.  A $30 class about backyard chickens will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Monday, March 12 at the main campus and on Wednesday, March 21 at Whitehall High School. Participants will find out how to become part of the new "urban" chicken movement - whether you live in the country or in town. Five hens in a backyard pen can provide enough eggs for a family with no bother to the neighbors. LCCC Congratulates Fall 2011 Graduates

Students from Lower Mac Patch and others graduated Dec. 18.

Lehigh Carbon Community College held a recognition ceremony for its December 2011 graduates on Dec. 18 at LCCC’s Schnecksville campus. The following Lower Macungie Patch residents were among the graduates: * Indicates student graduated Cum Laude, earning a grade point average of 3.5 - 3.75. ** Indicates student graduated Magna Cum Laude, earning a grade point average of 3.75 - 3.95. *** Indicates student graduated Summa Cum Laude, earning a grade point average of 3.95 - 4.0.

Come Sing At Lehigh Carbon Community College

Public invited to join community college choral group

The Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) “Tri-Cees” (Cougar Community Chorale) is seeking people from the community who share a passion for music and derive joy from singing with others. Starting Monday, Sept. 12 from 7 to 8:30 p.m., students will study and perform choral music with a variety of styles and historical periods, as well as music reading skills and choral technique.  Singers may have an opportunity to perform outside of the classroom and will perform one concert at the end of the semester, according to a press release from LCCC.  Weekly rehearsals will be held at the main campus in Schnecksville until Dec. 5. LCCC Hosts Amazon.com Interviews

Pre-screening begins this week. Interviews take place July 20 and 21.

Lehigh Carbon Community College will host the screening and interviewing of Amazon.com job applicants, starting the week of July 11 in the Community Services Center on its Schnecksville campus. Prospective applicants can visit http://www.amazonapplyonlineallentown.com/ Pre-screening and interviews are by invitation only at the discretion of Amazon.com.  Candidate pre-screening of candidates takes place during the week of July 11 with Amazon.com will be conducting interviews on July 20 and 21. LCCC admissions staff will be available to answer questions regarding taking classes.
