The Lehigh County Coroner has identified the four people who died in an Emmaus apartment fire on Sunday.
Four people— three adults and a teenager—who died in a devastating apartment house fire Sunday in Emmaus have been positively identifed by the Lehigh County Coroner's office. All four died of smoke inhalation and thermal injuries (burns). Coroners needed to use dental records and DNA to identify the badly burned bodies. The residents of 36-38 S. Fifth St. who died are: There's no word yet on what caused the fire, which is under investigation by the Emmaus Police and Fire departments, assisted by the Pennsylvania State Police—Troop M Fire Marshal Bureau and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office. A fire that roared through an Emmaus apartment house Sunday has left four people dead and officials have not yet been able to confirm the identities of the victims.
Four people died in a fire Sunday that destroyed an Emmaus apartment house at 36-38 South Fifth Street. The Lehigh County Coroner's Office announced Monday that positive identification of the four victims will need to be made through scientific means: We are hoping to use dental records if they are available. If positive identification cannot be made through the use of dental comparisons, DNA testing will need to be performed. Coroner Scott Grim added: As soon as positive identification and notification to the families has been made, I will release their identities. The Lehigh County Coroner is trying to locate next of kin of a deceased Mertztown man.
The Lehigh County Coroner is seeking the public's help to locate next of kin of a Mertztown man who died recently. John Greis, 67, of 18 Woodlawn Trailer Park, died Feb. 22 at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Salisbury of natural causes. Mertztown is located just west of Lower Macungie Township in Berks County near Topton. An Orefield woman's death last week was ruled a homicide from complications from a gunshot wound she suffered 30 years ago during an attempted robbery, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's office. The coroner's office launched an investigation into death of Linda J. Knauss, 65, 5268 Baldwin Lane, who died Feb. 18 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, after it got a cremation request from the funeral home. "Based on the cause of death listed, our office opened an investigation as the cause of death appeared to be trauma related," according to a news release issued Wednesday by the coroner's office. Gov. Tom Corbett helped break ground Thursday for a new Cetronia Joint Operations Facility near the Lehigh County Sports Fields in South Whitehall. The 68,000-square-foot facility -- formally known as the Cetronia Ambulance and Lehigh County Joint Operations and Medico-Legal Forensics Center -- will house Cetronia Ambulance’s fleet, a regional education center and the Lehigh County coroner's office. An 88-year-old woman died Monday as a result of injuries from a fall in Upper Macungie
The Lehigh County Coroner says Marguerite Cratty, 88, of 90 North Broadway, North Versailles, Pa., died Monday at 434 Arrowhead Lane in Upper Macungie Township. She died from injuries sustained in a fall that occured Nov. 24, 2012 at the Upper Macungie residence. Her death has been ruled an accident. Falls are the leading cause of death from injuries for the elderly, according to the Centers for Disease Control. Falls can cause broken bones and even brain trauma. The identity of a woman whose body was found burning last month in Salisbury Township was confirmed today through DNA testing, according to Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim. She is Jennifer Velez-Negron, 26, of Reading, Grim said. Investigators received clues after they released a detailed description of the body a day after it was found burning on Dec. 27 in a wooded residential area behind the Unami Fish and Game Association, 75 Chestnut Hill Road. Velez-Negron, who died from suffocation and thermal injuries, was burned beyond recognition but some distinguishing characteristics were discovered during the autopsy. The Lehigh County coroner is trying to find the next of kin of an Allentown man who died Saturday
Anyone with information about the relatives of Raymond Rudd, Sr. -- a 52-year-old Allentown man who died Saturday -- is asked to contact the Lehigh County coroner's office at 610-782-3426. Rudd died at Sacred Heart Hospital. He lived at 122 N. 11th Street in Allentown. An autopsy was performed Monday but cause of death is pending results of toxicology tests, according to the coroner's office.
