The Lehigh Valley Association of Realtors (LVAR) will participte in Nationwide Open House on Saturday and Sunday with hundreds of real estate open houses scheduled across the Valley. Visit LVAR's website and click on "Find a Home" or "Open Houses." You can search by county, school district or local area. LVAR CEO Ryan Conrad says affordablity of homes in the Lehigh Valley is high with most of the homes sold in March going for less than $150,000.

November was another good month for real estate sales, according to the Lehigh Valley Association of Realtors. Year-to-date sales are recorded at 5,312, up 15.1 percent over 2011 year-to-date sales of 4,614. LVAR’s research shows there are 6,024 pending sales year-to-date, which indicates transactions in process that have not yet closed. The Lehigh Valley continues to see a boost in the housing market with year-to-date sales of 4,329 up 17.3 percent over 2011 year-to-date sales of 3,690. The Lehigh Valley housing market continues to grow with August sales up more than 17 percent over the same month a year ago - and up about 15 percent over July. There were 3,837 homes sold in August 2012 compared to 3,268 in August 2011, according to the Lehigh Valley Association of Realtors. The Lehigh Valley Association of REALTORS® (LVAR) has started issuing a quarterly report on local housing trends. The new report complements the monthly market updates from LVAR. The initial quarterly report shows: The housing affordability index is up 7.1 percent at 196. This index measures housing affordability for the region. An index of 120 means the median household income is 120 percent of what is necessary to qualify for the median-priced home under prevailing interest rates. A higher number means greater affordability. The data was compiled based on household income and interest rates from hsh.com and huduser.org. The average number of days on the market until a home is sold has decreased 4.5 percent from second quarter last year…

Local real estate agents say a strong and steady year of recovery in the Lehigh Valley housing market is under way. June 2012 home sales, pending home sales, average sales price and year-to-date sales increased over June 2011.
