TV Drama Plays Out in Fraudulent Return at Walmart, Troopers Say

Pair accused of trying to return television they never purchased are caught one mile away from Lower Macungie store, police report.

If it was drama and entertainment that two Walmart shoppers in Lower Macungie recently came looking for, they certainly found it by day's end. One might have thought the simple purchase of a television set would have brought them the drama they needed with hours of viewing. But, police said, there was more in store for them . . . and more out of the store, too. Ella Hope Salibi, 22, of Allentown and Rose Mary Cruz, 23, of Coplay said they purchased the TV and then tried to return it for credit around 6 p.m. Jan. 23, according to state police at Fogelsville. The pair received a Walmart gift card for the value of the television they were "returning." When confronted for making a fraudulent return, police said, the two fled the store at 1091 …

Two Power Drills Stolen from Sears Hardware, Police Say

The tools were removed from security packaging and shoplifted from the Lower Macungie store, troopers report.

When it comes to getting power tools at a bargain price, some enterprising shopper knew the drill.  In fact, they knew two drills. That's what they made off with recently from Sears Hardware in Lower Macungie Township:  two DeWalt power drills, according to state police at Fogelsville. And the special low, low price? Free. Police said it was discovered at 9:32 a.m. Jan. 22 that two drills were removed during a retail theft from their security packaging and stolen from the store at 7150 Hamilton Blvd. No value was given for the two drills. Anyone who might have seen someone removing these items is asked to call police at 610-395-1438.

Shopping Spree Leads to Retail Theft Charges

State troopers say that pair attempted to steal $718.52 in merchandise from Walmart in Lower Macungie.

For a time, two Allentown shoppers were having quite an afternoon of it at Walmart in Lower Macungie Township, according to police. Migdalia Fontanez and Juan Gabriel Alvarado, both 31, were shopping in the 1091 Mill Creek Road store about 2:30 p.m. Jan. 6, according to state police at Fogelsville. It would seem that they either had expensive tastes or found quite a few things to their liking as police said the total value of items they were "interested in" was $718.52. And that would have been a nice sale for Walmart as well. Problem was, according to police, that the pair didn't intend to pay for the merchandise. The value of the alleged shoplifting attempt was impressive, but falls far short of the total amount of an attempt June 12 in …

Alleged Shoplifter Elbows Security Official, Police Stop Get-away Car

Man successfully fled Lower Macungie store, but was caught when he returned for the car he left in the parking lot, troopers report.

Looking to save a few bucks? Skip the expense of the action movies and video games once in a while and keep your eyes open at Walmart in Lower Macungie Township. Those in the parking lot about 10:50 p.m. Jan. 6 certainly got their money's worth. Trouble began when Joseph Sterling Williams, 19, of Northampton fled the 1091 Mill Creek Road store without paying for a $98 soundbar, according to state police at Fogelsville. He was stopped outside by security and taken to a store office. Eventually, he successfully fled the store by elbowing a security official in the stomach and running toward Lower Macungie Road, police said. Williams might have gotten away, but he returned to get his car from the parking lot, police said. He drove away …

Police: Same Shoplifters 'Hit' Giant on Consecutive Days

After taking nearly $170 in merchandise from the Lower Macungie store the first day, two of the three returned to drive away with more the next, troopers say.

Customer loyalty is one thing, but this is the kind a business doesn't need. Same goes for customers who bring their own bags. Rather thoughtful, you might think. Officials believe these attributes can be credited to some of the same people who recently shopped at the Giant store in Lower Macungie Township on consecutive days. But instead of nominating them for Customer of the Month, these shoppers won't be welcomed back anytime soon. The reason? Store officials believe that some of these "shoppers" conspired to steal from them two days in a row. State police at Fogelsville said three people -- a man and woman in their 20s or 30s -- plus a 54-year-old man listed as being from Allentown placed some items worth $169.69 in reusable shopping …

Police: Man Flees Walmart With TV, Dumps it in Parking Lot

Man escapes after botched get-away, troopers say.

This time, the action drama wasn't on T.V. but all around it. Instead of one of those re-runs played in the wee hours of the morning, this 4:42 a.m. drama on Dec. 8 was for real, according to police. A male shopper placed a 32-inch television set in a cart at Walmart in Lower Macungie Township, but left the 1091 Mill Creek Road store without paying, according to state police at Fogelsville. A store security officer chased the man into the parking lot. There, all did not go smoothly. The shoplifter was unable to open the door to the get-away car, police said. So, he fled, but apparently left the T.V. behind. Meanwhile, the passenger slid into the driver's seat. He eventually picked up the fleeing shoplifter and both left the lot in a blue …

Police: Woman Returned Rugs She Hadn't Purchased

She also bought merchandise with the credit and tried to leave Lower Macungie Walmart without paying for a coffeemaker, they say.

There are shopping deals and then there are shopping deals. Unfortunately, all aren't legal. Take, for example, the recent shopping trip of a Hellertown woman to the Walmart in Lower Macungie Township. Jessica Warjas, 34, of 1096 Pine Court picked out two rugs on Sept. 27 that might have made fine additions to her home. But, according to police, she instead made her way to the customer service counter where she returned the rugs in exchange for a Walmart gift card.  Seems she couldn't find the receipt, so the store would only give her credit via the gift card. Of course, as it turned out, she had no receipt because she hadn't purchased the rugs in the first place, according to state police at Fogelsville. Next Warjas purchased merchandise …
